More Aussie Interest Day 3 at Keeneland

Mark Smith - Thursday September 12

An Uncle Mo half-sister to Group II Silver Shadow Stakes winner and Group 1 Golden Rose runner-up Omei Sword out of Fastnet Rock's Gr1 MRC One Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights was purchased by Ben McElroy for $650,000 on the third day of Book 1 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale but it's hard to go past American Pharoah (USA) for the days highlights.

Aside from the $8.2 million top priced lot, American Pharoah (image Mark Smith ) had youngsters sell for $1.3m, $675,000, $525,000, $375,000, $350,000 and $30,000.

The $525,000 was paid by China Horse Club for a half-brother to the Group 1 Irish Oaks and Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Peeping Fawn (Danehill) and the Group 1 Criterium International winner and successful sire Thewayouare (Kingmambo).

On their own or in partnership with Maverick Racing, China Horse Club purchased a total of five lots on day 3, a Quality Road colt for $900,000, a Ghostzapper colt for $500,000, a Candy Ride (ARG) colt for $490,000, and a Pioneerof The Nile filly for $200,000.

Boomer Bloodstock teamed up with Radley Equine to purchase a colt by No Nay Never for $210,000.
