Frosted Popular, China Horse Club Active and More Aussie Interest On Day 3
Mark Smith - Wednesday September 11

I would think the Magic Millions or William Inglis would be mortified at a pass-in rate of 30 percent at their flagship sales but that is what the first two sessions of Book 1 at Keenland is batting.

One stallion that is having no problem in attracting buyers is the Darley shuttler Frosted (USA) who has had eight of his 10 lots on offer over the first two days find new homes.

And it has been a good spread of buyers. All five yearlings by Frosted (USA) offered on the second day sold making $600,000, $420,000, $400,000, $390,000 and $380,000.

The $600,000 was paid by Northshore Bloodstock for a half-sister to the Grade 1 Ashland Stakes winner Weep No More (Mineshaft) and the Grade III winner Current (Curlin).

The majestic grey son of Tapit is covering his third book of mares at Darley's Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of $27,500.

Also of interest to Australians on day 2 was the sale was a Medaglia d'Oro half-sister to Godolphin's 4-time Group 1 winner and $7million earner Hartnell out of the winning Anabaa mare Debonnaire, which was snapped up by David Redvers for $300,000.

The first foal of the stakes-placed Fastnet Rock mare Ameristralia , a colt by Malibu Moon, was knocked down to 4th Quarter Equine for $130,000.

China Horse Club was again active purchasing an American Pharoah (USA) colt out of the Group 1 Frizette Stakes winner AZ Warrior (Bernadini) for $400,000 and teaming up with Maverick Racing to secure a Dubawi colt out of Zenyatta's half-sister Ebloissante for $700,000 and an Into Mischief colt out of the Distorted Humor mare Beach Walk for $525,000.

At tomorrow's session three, Eaton Sales will be offering an Uncle Mo half-brother to the Group II Silver Shadow Stakes winner and Group 1 Golden Rose runner-up Omei Sword (High Chaparral) out of Fastnet Rock's Group 1 Thousand Guineas winner Irish Lights.

But all eyes are likely to be on Clarkland Farm's American Pharoah filly out of the Blue Hen Leslie's Lady who has already left Beholder, Mendelssohn and Into Mischief.
