More Australian Foals by Deep Impact

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 9
The much-admired half-sister by Deep Impact to Winx won't be the only foal born in Australia this spring by the late Japanese wonder sire, whose global influence was highlighted again at the weekend with the Yoshida family owned two year-old filly Savarin capturing the Group III Prix D'Aumale at Longchamp to stay undefeated.

Stunning Deep Impact filly from A Time for Julia - image Bronwen HealyFrom the Champion European 3YO Filly in 2010, Sarafina, Savarin is a full sister to another French Group III winner in Geniale and is likely to step up to Group I company for her next test with the Prix Marcel Boussac on Arc day her likely target.

Several Australasian breeders, notably Arrowfield Stud and partners, have gambled on Deep Impact in recent years with Fairway Thoroughbreds also sending Group III winner A Time for Julia and stakes-winner Peron to Japan last year along with Vegas Showgirl, the dam of Winx.

A Time for Julia has already produced this lovely filly by Deep Impact at Segenhoe Thoroughbreds, while Peron is awaiting the arrival of her foal.

The oldest Australian bred progeny of Deep Impact are now three year-olds as listed below on the Australian Studbook, so there will be much interest in their progress this season.

The only runners from the group above so far have been Enood, who has shown promise and been placed three times from six starts and Miyake, who has had two unplaced starts.
