Top bets from Paul Joice for Rosehill Saturday

Paul Joice - Friday August 25

I am keen to play at Rosehill on Saturday with some class horses resuming off strong trials along with a speculator at big odds.

The class factor - Pariah returns on saturday and I'm jumping aboard. Photo: Steve Hart

MARSUPIAL (Rosehill Race 3 No 11)
This horse thumped Frolic and Lipizzan on debut as a two-year-old and now resumes for James Cummings as a three-year-field off two impressive trials. At his latest trial he ambled alongside Spieth when runner-up in a Warwick Farm trial and being a three-year-old against the older horses gets in with only 53kg. Looks genuine pace in the race so the tricky gate shouldn't pose a massive problem. With any luck in the run should prove too sharp.

ODDS $4.80 @CrownBet and Unibet

SINGING (Rosehill Race 5 No 3)
This is my Saturday speculator. Edged out in this race last year when splitting Sense Of Occasion and Magic Hurricane – if he reproduces that form he wins this. He isn't the most reliable being an 8YO entire but his first-up stats (6:2-2-0) read well and the booking of regular track rider Andrew Gibbons could prove a masterstroke by trainer Kris Lees. Gibbons knows this horse and if anyone can get him to produce first-up – he is the man for the job. No trial but already a sprinkling of early money. Keen to take the punt at the big odds.
BET: EACH-WAY
ODDS – $21 @ Sportsbet (PowerPlay $27)

ASSIMILATE (Rosehill Race 6 No 2)
This is an open race but with a solid pace expected up front through the likes of Runaway and Addictive Nature I am siding with the Snowden and Bowman combination. Bowman trialled this undefeated colt at Randwick recently and liked the way the pair found the line. Formlines through the horses Assimilate has beaten looks strong so sticking the strength and backing Assimilate straight out.
BET: WIN
ODDS $6 @ William Hill (PricePump $7)

PARIAH (Rosehill Race 7 No 1)
I haven't seen him in the flesh this time in but watching the trials on screen he appears to have physically matured. And that's a worrying sign for his rivals because his two-year-old form is superior to these. Only flop was in the Golden Slipper on a heavy 10 track. At latest lead-up trial split Winx and Happy Clapper – and wasn't being asked to do too much. A fast pace up front with the pressure on should offset a wide gate and with patient hoop Blake Shinn engaged – should steam over top of them.
BET: WIN
ODDS $2.50 @ Bet365

BONNY O'REILLY (Rosehill Race 9 No 1)
Class and stats tell the story here with Bonny O'Reilly. Three from three at Rosehill, three from three at the distance and has five wins on good ground. Gate one will offset the 59.5kg impost – it guarantees her a smother and that's when she races best. Has the early speed to take up a position and the acceleration to pinch a break when it counts. That combination generally delivers horses with impressive records and with seven wins from 11 starts – she is one of the most lightly raced horses in the field yet has won as many races as any of her rivals.
BET: WIN
ODDS $3.70 @ Ladbrokes (OddsBoost $4.20)
