One to Watch – Warrnambool

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 8
A big green baby by So You Think, this three year-old gelding bolted in at Warrnambool on Thursday at just his second start and is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas.

Regardsmaree as a yearlingTrained by Henry Dwyer, Regardsmaree had little idea what was going on at his first start last month when finishing midfield at Sandown in an open juvenile event, but with that run under his belt and a drop in class to a 1300 metre maiden he had the chance to show his potential.

Wide throughout under Josh Cartwright, Regardsmaree circled the field on the turn and despite still racing greenly was able to power clear to win by more than four lengths.

"Today was a great experience for him,” said Cartwright.

"He’s got a few quirks, but he’s getting there and in six months time he’s going to be a really nice horse.”

A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Hillside Thoroughbreds draft, Regardsmaree is the third winner from three foals to race from Rossa Mia, a half-sister by Testa Rossa to Group II winner Stokehouse and stakes-winner Malasun.

His sire So You Think is coming off a super successful season having sired 114 winners of $8.4 million in 2018/2019 with a new Group I winner in Nakeeta Jane his highlight horse.

A champion son of High Chaparral (IRE), So You Think stands at Coolmore at a fee of $38,500.
