Darley's
Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting to Win posted his third winner since the
start of the new season with an impressive debut victory at Ipswich on
Wednesday for Battle Strike.
Trained by the new father and son partnership of Trent and Toby Edmonds, Battle
Strike was sent out favourite for the 1100 metre maiden after showing good
ability in barrier trials and ran right up to that indication when powering
clear to win by more than two lengths.
A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for Edmonds Racing from the Mill Park draft,
Battle Strike was bred by Mill Park in partnership and is a half-brother to
stakes-winners Guard of Honour and undefeated South African based sprinter Run
Fox Run.
He is the fourth winner from terrific producer Victory Cry, a full sister to
stakes-winner Victory Chant and half-sister to stakes-winner Reldas from the
family of Group I MRC Thousand Guineas winner Serious Speed.
Battle Strike continues the strong start to the new season for Shooting to Win,
who stands at Darley at a fee of $22,000.
