The
top priced offering at the 2018 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale was a
lovely colt by Epaulette that fetched $100,000 and he opened his account with a
stylish win at Cranbourne on Wednesday.
Trained by Matt Ellerton and Simon Zahra, Influential Jack was luckless when
finishing fifth and fourth at his first two starts at Bendigo and Sandown last
month, but atoned for those defeats with an impressive win.
Sent out favourite for the 1500 metre maiden, Influential Jack cruised clear to
win by a length and a quarter over a competitive field of 13.
Purchased by his trainers from the Armidale Stud draft, Influential Jack is the
fourth winner from stakes-placed Savoire Vivre (IRE) mare With Decorum, who is
due to foal to Needs Further this spring.
Darley's young sire Epaulette did a great job last season siring some 56
winners of $3.7 million and is poised to keep up the good work.
The dual Group I winning son of Commands stands at a fee of $27,500.
