The
stocks of Darley's promising young sire Brazen Beau have received a blow with news
his star colt Tassort will not be racing this spring.
Goldolphin announced on Twitter the Group II Silver Slipper Stakes runner-up
has had epiglottic entrapment surgery and would return in autumn 2020.
The James Cummings trained colt was the pre-field Golden Slipper favourite
after a sensational five-length debut win in the $150,000 Golden Gift last
November, but ultimately did not run in the race due to ongoing issues with a
bruised foot.
The half-brother to Group I winners Alizee and Astern will now be given the
time to get over this latest setback and may yet fulfil his potential.
His dam Essaouira has a two year- old filly by Medaglia D'Oro (USA) called
Tangier and has another yearling colt by the same sire to follow, both
youngsters full siblings to Golden Rose hero Astern.
She is due to foal to Sepoy this spring so will produce a full sibling to
Alizee.
