Breednet Proud to Sponsor Thoroughbred Jumping

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 24
The Breednet team were delighted to be a part of the Thoroughbred Sport Horse Classes at the 2019 Tamworth Winter Indoor Showjumping Championships last weekend sponsoring a class and also taking part with the Daybreak Farm entry Lunar Rise ridden by Jack Haynes.

Just Frank and Melissa Jasprizza win the Breednet sponsored 1.20 classBreednet sponsored the 1.20 class on Sunday with a great competition producing some lovely horses and interestingly the winner Just Frank (Broadway Bullet) and third place-getter Mavrick (Twelvebore) were both sired by Bite the Bullet (USA), who died in 2013 and he also sired the dam of fourth place-getter Bellbirds Sandpiper (Foxhound).

None of these three horses were able to win on the track, but all have found real success in the showjumping ring with the winner Just Frank also ridden in the Amateur Indoor Championship at this show by Melissa Jasprizza. He finished third overall in the Amateur Championship so was a very busy and successful horse at this show.

Bite the Bullet was a successful commercial sire leaving 19 stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Sniper's Bullet and his success as a sire of showjumpers can probably be traced to his sire Spectacular Bid, a statuesque grey American bred horse that was the champion of his time and won the 1979 Kentucky Derby.

As you can see in the picture of him he's very uphill at the front end and has the long legs of a jumper, attributes we see in his descendants.

Spectacular Bid is also the sire of Spectacular Spy (USA), who stood in Australia and sired the brilliant stakes-winner Ab Initio, who achieved further success as a top class showjumper ridden by Krissy Harris and he is also the sire of the dam of Nic Carraro's World Cup Horse Columbo (racing name 'You Too').

From my own personal experience, my son Jack jumped a big grey gelding by Snitzel called El Shazzar who had no trouble jumping 1.20 tracks and also owed his jumping ability to Spectacular Spy being from one of his daughters and was indelibly stamped in the Spectacular Bid mould.

Congratulations to the winners and placegetters of class 26 - 120m sponsored by Breednet
