Stakes Success for Avilius Half-Brother

Godolphin enjoyed stakes success in France on Sunday with the two year-old half-brother to their Australian star performer Avilius (GB) taking out the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure at Longchamp.

Avilius has a promising two yea-rold half-brother in Europe for GodolphinTrained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by Mickael Barzalona, Oasis Dream colt Well of Wisdom scored a neck win in the seven furlong contest over Helteer Skelter with Godolphin's American Pharoah colt Saqqara King in third place.

A homebred for Godolphin, Well of Wisdom won his debut at Newmarket in April and was ninth in the Group II Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, so has the overall record of two wins and a third from four starts.

He is the fifth winner and fourth stakes-winner from Sunday Silence mare Alessandria, whose offspring include dual Group I winner Avilius, French Group II winner Saint Baudolino and French stakes-winner Army Bulletin.

Avilius is currently spelling following a very successful autumn campaign that saw him win with both the Group I ATC Ranvet Stakes and Tancred Stakes.

Well of Wisdom is the 120th stakes-winner for Oasis Dream, the horse who famously defeated Choisir in the Group I Darley July Sprint Cup back in 2003 after finishing third to him at Royal Ascot in the Group II King's Stand Stakes.
