New SW and a Metro Double for Epaulette

Tara Madgwick - Sunday June 30
It was another typically good day at the office on Saturday for Darley's Epaulette, who delivered a metropolitan double at Rosehill with smart three year-olds River Bird and Dulette as well as a new stakes-winner in Ireland with Insignia of Rank taking out the Listed Curragh Celebration Stakes.

River Bird has won over $50,000 in BOBS bonuses this seasonA model of consistency for the Jason Coyle stable, River Bird was third in the Group III ATC Widden Stakes on debut at two and has rare failed to collect a cheque ever since.

She won a Benchmark 78 event at Rosehill two weeks ago over 1200 metres and backed up in the same assignment on Saturday to score another strong finishing win.

Retained to race by her breeder Joe Rapisarda, River Bird is the second winner from good Brisbane metro winner Amber's Crown and has the tidy record of three wins and five placings from 14 starts with prizemoney just shy of $240,000.

Her win brought up a double for Epaulette, who won the first race on the program, the Highway event, with the Wayne Wilkes trained filly Dulette.

She has also won three of 14 starts proving a tough and consistent commodity with earnings in excess of $70,000, not bad for a country trained filly!

Dulette - images Steve HartEpaulette added a ninth stakes-winner to his tally and his first in the Northern Hemisphere when four year-old gelding Insignia of Rank won the Listed Curragh Celebration Stakes over a mile by a nose.

A dual Group I winning son of Commands and three-quarter brother to multiple Group I winner and sire Helmet, Epaulette has really put together some impressive stats as this season has unfolded and is one of four elite young sires that have really dominated the Australian Second Season Sires list in Zoustar, Spirit of Boom and Dundeel.

You would love to have a mare booked to any of the above!
