Astute
trainer Grahame Begg has already had one good colt since switching to Victoria
in Written By and he might have a good filly in the stable judging by the debut
win on Friday for this two year-old daughter of champion sire Redoute’s Choice.
Set a tough enough task on debut facing 1300 metres first up on a heavy track,
Beauty Bolt overcame a tardy start to score a thoroughly dominant three-quarter
length win.
She lengthened impressively over the final furlong for Jordan Childs and this
big rangy filly looks to have a bright future.
"She really put them away once she saw daylight, so it’s very exciting,” said Grahame
Begg.
"I think we’ve got a pretty nice filly. We’ve given her plenty of time and she’ll
have another little break now and hopefully reap the rewards later in the year.”
Not offered at auction, Beauty Bolt is
the third winner from three foals to race from Sasa, a former talented Encosta
de Lago filly that was second in the Group I ATC Champagne Stakes.
Sasa is from Group III winning Zabeel mare Zatella, so there is a real depth of
pedigree to suggest Beauty Bolt could easily get over a trip come the spring.
The passing earlier this year of champion sire Redoute’s Choice means his stock
are now in limited supply making a filly like Beauty Bolt potentially a very valuable
filly indeed.
