Familiar Sires Enjoy G1 Glory at Royal Ascot

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 22
Group I racing at Royal Ascot overnight delivered Group I winners for two sires well known in this part of the world in former New Zealand shuttler Showcasing (GB) and Choisir's top class son Olympic Glory (IRE), who has shuttled to Arrowfield Stud for three seasons.

Advertise - Royal AScot twitterThe Group I Commonwealth Cup (6f) for three year-olds was won by Advertise, who kept up the winning run for Frankie Dettori when scoring by a length and a half at 8-1.

The Martyn Meade trained Showcasing colt won the Group I Phoenix Stakes last season at two and was second in the Group I Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

He failed to stay a mile when running first up in the Group I 2,000 Guineas, but found his best form dropped back to his favoured sprint trip.

"I'm so pleased for Martyn. His horses were sick in the spring and Advertise ran badly in the Guineas. He had to bite the bullet and close his stables for a month and he's got his reward," said Frankie Dettori.

A 60,000 pound purchase for Dermot Farrington from the Goffs Doncaster Yearling Sale, Advertise runs for Phoenix Thoroughbred Ltd and has the impressive record of four wins and two seconds from seven starts.

He is the best of two winners from Pivotal mare Furbelow, a full sister to stakes-winner Red Diadem.

Watch Me - Royal AScot TwitterProviding Olympic Glory with his first Group I winner was three year-old filly Watch Me, who won the Group I Coronation Stakes (1m) by a length and a half at 20-1 beating the hot favourite Hermosa.

The French bred and trained filly had won two of four previous starts including a Group III success and was too good.

"The race was perfect for Watch Me, she was unlucky in the Poule D'Essai (des Pouliches - French 1,000 Guineas). I was able to get behind Hermosa and when I asked her she gave me a nice turn of foot. She did it very easy today. She has a big heart and is very courageous, I think she is very good quite simply," said winning rider Pierre-Charles Boudot.

Watch Me is the best of three winners from Galileo mare Watchful, a grand-daughter of Group I winner Sharaya.

She is one of two stakes-winners for Olympic Glory and is his first Group I winner.

Olympic Glory shuttled to Arrowfield in 2015,2016 and 2018, but is not on the roster this year.
