Gooree
Stud would be well pleased to see their blue-blood Front Sight cast off maiden
status as a short-priced favourite at Wyong on Thursday.
A three-year-old half-brother by Smart Missile to Group I winner Romantic Touch
and Group III winner Burning Passion, the Kris Lees trained Front Sight was
placed at three previous runs and blew his rivals away in the 1350 metre maiden
to win by more than three lengths.
From one of Gooree Stud’s iconic families, Front Sight is the sixth winner from
Dearness, a Snippets half-sister to Group I winners Desert War and Laser Hawk.
Dearness has a yearling filly by Exceed and Excel, a weanling colt by Your Song
and is in foal to Zoustar, who is by Northern Meteor, the sire of her Group I
winner Romantic Touch.
Front Sight is one of 122 winners this season for Gooree Stud bred sire Smart
Missile, who has really blossomed in the last 12 months.
Standing at Twin Hills Stud this year at a fee of $22,000, Smart Missile has
sired the winners of over $7.6 million including eight stakes-winners headed by
Group I winner Maid of Heaven.
