A
two year-old filly by Tavistock that wins her second start over 1600 metres
beating older horses is a horse we want to know more about as a potential Oaks
filly next season.
Trained out of Lindsay Park by the Hayes Dabernig partnership, Pontivy was sent
out favourite and surged home from midfield to win comfortably by more than a
length.
It’s a long way from a Pakenham winter maiden to an Oaks, but this filly has
the pedigree to be thinking that way.

draft, Pontivy is the second winner from Belle de Jeu, a winning half-sister by
Not a Single doubt to Group III winner Stripper from the family of Golden Slipper
winner Belle du Jour.
Her sire Tavistock has enjoyed great success as a source of classic horses and
has had particular success with mares from the Zabeel line and Pontivy’s grand-dam
Miss Charmer was third in the Group III VRC St Leger and is by Zabeel, so that
box is ticked.
The Tavistock x Zabeel nick runs at 72.6% winners to runners and has produced
eight stakes-winners headed by Group I winners Werther, Tavago and Tarzino.
