Debut 2YO Winner South Africa Brings Timely MM Update

I Am Invincible posted an impressive debut juvenile winner in South Africa on Thursday when the Yarraman Park bred and sold filly Lady Defiance saluted at Vaal with her dam to be offered at the NM National Broodmare Sale later today in the supplementary section.

Lady Defiance as a yearlingA half-sister to Group I SAJC South Australian Derby winner Leicester, the Mike de Kock trained Lady Defiance raced clear for an easy two length win in the 1450 metre juvenile fillies maiden.

A $300,000 Inglis premier purchase for Form Bloodstock from the Yarraman Park draft, Lady Defiance is the second winner for Galileo mare Defy the Odds (GB), a half-sister to Group III winner Index Linked.

Defy the Odds has not had a living foal since Lady Defiance, but is in foal to champion sire Fastnet Rock and will be offered in the supplementary section of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on Friday as Lot 1921.


The mating will produce a three-quarter sibling to her Group I winner Leicester.
