American Pharoah Trio Highlight Lime Country Weanlings

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 17
Fresh from success at the recent Inglis weanling and breeding stock sales, Southern Highlands based nursery Lime Country Thoroughbreds are poised to make a splash at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale next week with six stunning youngsters, three of them from the first Australian crop of US Triple Crown winner American Pharoah (USA).

Lime Country’s Jo Griffin commented, "We are really looking forward to getting this draft of weanlings in front of the market. Three of the weanlings we’ll be offering are products of the Lime Country mare and foal trading program.

"Those three foals are the Capitalist ex Belhamage, the American Pharoah ex Without A Shadow colts and the Star Turn Msongari filly. Greg and I don’t pin-hook weanlings preferring instead trade mares and sell the resulting foals as weanlings. All three mares where purchased at this sale last year and will they be offered back through the mare sale next week.”

"Many people who pin-hook foals annually know and understand this is our trading model and inspect the draft with confidence aware that we presenting good genuine weanlings which have plenty of upside going forward.”

With two first crop winners already in the Northern Hemisphere, American Pharoah is already on his way as a sire and his first Australian bred offspring are the subject of keen interest.

Lot 207 Filly American Pharoah (USA) x High Valyrian, by High Chaparral (IRE)

"The High Valyrian filly is an absolute standout, she is owned by the Crismale family and like many others they have supported American Pharoah heavily since he went to stud. They are new clients of the farm and we have encouraged them to offer some of their top quality stock over a wider range of markets than they perhaps have in the past," Jo Griffin explained.
