Newgate
Farm's Deep Field added a 15th winner to his tally on Thursday with
a debut victory at Wyong for promising colt North.
Taking on older rivals in the 1100 metre maiden, North led all the way and was
never challenged to win by a length as favourite.
Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, North was a $300,000 Magic Millions purchase
from the Glastonbury Farm draft for China Horse Club, Newgate / Winstar.
He is the first winner for Legato, an unraced three-quarter sister to
stakes-winner Gonski and half-sister to Group II winner Schubert.
Glastonbury Farm sold the full sister to North at the Inglis Classic Yearling
Sale this year for $220,000 to McEvoy Mitchell Racing.
Legato was one of 246 mares covered last spring by Deep Field, who has had a
fee increase for this year and stands at $44,000.
