$90,000 Dundeel filly Tops Inglis Melbourne Gold Yearling Sale

Tara Madgwick - Sunday April 28

A Dundeel filly highlighted a strong day of trade at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Gold Yearling Sale.

Dundeel filly from My HolidazeThe filly was offered by Jazcom Thoroughbreds as lot 70 in the sale and was purchased by Tony Ottobre for $90,000.

Ottobre was thrilled to add the filly as he saw the similarities with his star High Chaparral filly Princess Jenni.

"She is very similar in type to Princess Jenni, who we obviously have a massive opinion of," Ottobre said.

"I went through the catalogue looking for Classic horses and am excited to get this filly.

"When she was brought out of her box I could hear her walking out and as soon as I saw her I thought that is exactly the classic walk that a stayer possess.

"She will be trained by David Brideoake."

The filly certainly has a classic pedigree as she has a double cross of champion sire Zabeel and is from the family of Champion 3YO Filly Samantha Miss and Group I SAJC Adelaide Cup winner Cronus.

Colin Branthwaite of Jazcom thoroughbreds was in high spirits after the sale.

"It was a really good result for a very nice filly, a classic style filly," Branthwaite said.

"A lot of people liked her, she was popular during inspections and had a good number of x-ray hits.

"Really, you couldn't fault the filly.

Street Boss filly from Radar"The purchaser was after a classic style filly and she's certainly a nice one."

Selling for $80,000 was the three-quarter sister to Saturday's Hawkesbury stakes-winner Intuition, a lovely filly by Street Boss (USA) from Radar.

She was consigned by Blue Gum Farm and bought by Shaun Dwyer Racing.

The strength and depth of the buying bench for the sale was realised with a clearance rate of 87% with further private purchases likely to be completed.

Inglis' Victorian Bloodstock Manger Simon Vivian was thrilled with the results of the sale.

"The level of interest and participation in the sale has been strong which is really pleasing," Vivian said.

"We had significant number of individual buyers including a great cross section of Victorian trainers.

"A lot of the top Victorian trainers were active at today's sale; Lindsay Park, Maher/Eustace, Mick Price and Mike Moroney just to name a few.

"Further, there has been strong international interest in the sale as well with active buyers from Singapore, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Macau.

"With the VOBIS Raceday yesterday and the success of today's sale, it really goes to show the exceptional shape of the Victorian breeding industry.

"I would like to thank both the buyers and vendors for the support of the sale."

All the yearlings sold today are eligible to be nominated for the $8m Inglis race series.

Inglis' next auction is the Australian Broodmare & Weanling sale, which begins with Weanlings going through at Riverside Stables on Thursday, May 2.
