Sebring 3YO’s Step Up for Spring

Tara Madgwick - Sunday August 20
Sebring didn't get a stakes-winner on Saturday, but he didn't miss by much with two highly promising three year old colts in Gold Standard and Plutocracy beaten narrowly in Group III events.

Having just his third start, the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Gold Standard beat all but $1million colt Dracarys when going down by a long head in the Group III ATC Up and Coming Stakes.

SebringGold Standard is improving with every start and has the brightest of futures.

"He's a real workman like horse and it feels like he'll be better the further he gets," said his rider Tommy Berry.

The Hayes / Dabernig trained colt Plutocracy looked all over a winner in the Group III MRC Vain Stakes before being collared late by Jukebox to be beaten a half neck in the 1100 metre dash.

"He has been beaten by a very good colt but he's a nice horse," said his rider Regan Bayliss.

Sebring also posted two promising three year-old winners at the lesser tracks with Sebfire winning his second race from three starts for the Darren Weir stable at Morphettville, while the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Dante Rossetti scored an easy victory at Kembla a his second start.
