On
the other wide of the world last night, Godolphin unleashed the two year-old half-brother
to their Australian star performer Avilius (GB)and he duly won in the manner of
a horse headed for Black Type.
Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, Oasis Dream colt Well
of Wisdom finished hard from off the pace to win the five furlong contest at
Newmarket by half a length.
"Well of Wisdom has
learnt plenty there and we may look at stepping him up to six furlongs as his
pedigree suggests," said his trainer.
A homebred for Godolphin, Well of Wisdom is the fifth winner from Sunday
Silence mare Alessandria, whose offspring include dual Group I winner Avilius,
French Group II winner Saint Baudolino and French stakes-winner Army Bulletin.
Avilius is currently spelling following a very
successful autumn campaign that saw him win with both the Group I ATC Ranvet
Stakes and Tancred Stakes.
