Iffraaj and Belardo Returning to Haunui

Media Release - Tuesday April 16
Haunui Farm is pleased to announce that both IFFRAAJ (GB) (Zafonic) and BELARDO (Ire) (Lope De Vega) will be returning to New Zealand for the 2019 breeding season.

IfraajIFFRAAJ needs no introduction as one of New Zealand's leading sires. The sire of 68 stakes winners worldwide, IFFRAAJ is a proven, G1 sire on the International stage. A sire that leaves Karaka Million winners, Classic 3YO's, Champion Middle Distance and WFA performers, he will stand at an unchanged fee of $25,000 + GST and as always, will serve a limited book of mares.

Exciting young sire BELARDO , whose first foals have created quite the impression in both hemispheres, will also stand at an unchanged fee of $12,000 + GST. A Champion 2YO and dual G1 winner, BELARDO is the only son of LOPE DE VEGA (Ire) (Shamardal) at stud in Australasia and represents a sire line that has enjoyed tremendous success worldwide. His first crop weanlings in the Northern Hemisphere have sold up to €77,000 and Southern Hemisphere buyers will get their first chance to see them at Karaka and the Gold Coast in May.

Haunui Farm's Managing Director, Mark Chitty says, "We are obviously very happy to have both stallions coming back to the Haunui serving barn in 2019 and we are grateful for the fantastic support we have received from Darley over many years in allowing us to stand the stallions at such value.

Belardo"One of the biggest factors in our stallion market at the present time is maintaining relevance in our major markets and we believe both IFFRAAJ and BELARDO tick that box.

"The past 12 months has seen JUNGLE CAT become IFFRAAJ's fourth G1 winner in Australia and last week he enjoyed success at the Sydney Easter Sale with the full sister to ATC Derby winner JON SNOW fetching $460,000 – second only to SAVABEEL for a New Zealand based sire. Whilst BELARDO's sire LOPE DE VEGA continues to go from strength to strength with SANTA ANA LANE running out an impressive winner of the G1 TJ Smith on the first day of The Championships."
