Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 1
Seven juvenile heats at the Warwick Farm trials on Monday morning featured some interesting winners including talented Deep Field colt Spaceboy, while a $1,1 million two year-old taking on older maidens in a 1200 metre heat made them look like hacks.

Significance as a yearlingThe John O’Shea trained Frankel colt Significance has raced once finishing a close up fifth at Newcastle over 1400 metres and was tuned up for his next outing in this 1200 metre hit out which he won in a breeze.

Partnered by Brenton Avdulla, he was asked to take a sit behind the leaders and then when asked for an effort strode clear to win by six lengths under a hold.

A $1.1 million Inglis Easter purchase for Domeland from the Arrowfield Stud draft, Significance is the first foal of Aqua Bella (GB), a half-sister by Oasis Dream to stakes-winner Ame Bleue from triple Group I winning Danehill mare Aquarelliste.

Gary Portelli will be looking forward to having Spaceboy back at the races judging by this encouraging trial.

Second on debut to Tassort in the Golden Gift last year and then third in the Magic Millions Wyong 2YO Classic behind Unite and Conquer and Exhilarates, Spaceboy has plenty of talent and looked a stronger horse this time around.

Spaceboy as a yearlingHe mustered speed quickly after an even getaway to take the lead and was never troubled to win his 791 metre heat by nearly three lengths.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Aquis draft for his trainer, Spaceboy is the first foal of Miatoko, a half-sister by Danzero to the dam of Group III winner Testashadow from the family of dual Group I winner and leading young sire Zoustar.
