With
flat racing returning in the UK and Ireland, Aussie shuttler Epaulette had the
first two-year-old winner of the season in Ireland on Sunday.
Starting second favourite, the Michael O'Callaghan trained Red Epaulette was
making his debut at Naas and ran out a comfortable winner by over three lengths
in the five furlong maiden.
Epaulette has shuttled to Dalham Hall in England and Kildangan Stud in Ireland
since retiring to stud in 2014.
Red Epaulette becomes his 38th winner in the UK and Ireland and he
is enjoying a good season in Australia with 33 winners and four stakeswinners
so far headed by Scarborough Stakes (Gr.3) winner Meryl.
He has also had the dual Group One winning colt Soqrat in South Africa, winner
of the Cape Guineas (Gr.1) at Kenilworth in December, having also won at Group
One level as a juvenile.
