Juvenile Stakes Race Tonight

Tara Madgwick - Friday March 22
The Group I MVRC William Reid Stakes takes centre stage at Moonee Valley tonight, but there is also a competitive stakes race for two year-olds with exciting young sire Rubick given a great chance to sire his second stakes-winner.

Rubick is the sire of race favourite Andrassy AvenueThe powerful Hayes Dabernig stable will saddle up the favourite Andrassy Avenue, who is already a winner at Moonee Valley and comes into the race off a last start ninth in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes beaten less than four lengths.

The daughter of Rubick has a good barrier and Luke Nolen to ride.

Yulong Investments and Spendthrift Farm are both represented in the race with well bred Snitzel filly Cheer Leader carrying the green and white of Yulong, while expensive Written Tycoon colt Dirty Work runs for Spendthrift.

Dirty Work is the second foal of Maidel, a half-sister to stakes-winner Meidung, the dam of Group II winner Banish.

Tony McEvoy produced talented Nicconi colt Mayan for an impressive debut win at Morphettville on March 9 and he could easily be the knockout horse. A $100,000 Inglis Premier purchase, he's a great sort with plenty of ability and is pictured below.
