What the jockeys said after the Quezette Stakes

Brad Waters - Saturday August 19

Crown Witness landed a good betting move when beating Blue Diamond winner Catchy in Saturday's Group III Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield.

Crown Witness was back from $6 to $3.80 before racing on the pace and holding Catchy ($2.30 fav) late to score by a head while Catchy's Lindsay Park stablemate Ploverset was 2¼ lengths away third.

Below is what the jockeys had to say about the performances of their Quezette Stakes mounts.

COMMENT

1st

CROWN WITNESS

BEN MELHAM

She had an easy run on the speed and she did a real good job, she was real game to the line. At this distance today and with one to chase she settled nice but I'll leave it to the experts to decide if she'll stretch out over further.

2nd

CATCHY

CRAIG WILLIAMS

She didn't keep her unbeaten record here in Victoria but she was great. The winner had the fitness edge and my filly was really good.

3rd

PLOVERSET

REGAN BAYLISS

Really good. She has been beaten by a rock hard fit filly and the second horse is probably the best three-year-old filly in Victoria.

4th

SHE'S SO HIGH

MICHAEL DEE

Good effort. She's not up to that level but will get black type soon enough.

5th

SEANNIE

DWAYNE DUNN

She's a nice filly heading towards the 1000 Guineas.

6th

BROOK MAGIC

DAMIEN OLIVER

She hung on well.

7th

UNDOUBTABLE MISS

RYAN MALONEY

Ran really well. Had a bit of an average run and probably blew out in the last furlong but she has come back in really good order.

8th

ARCTIC ANGEL

DAMIAN LANE

Disappointing.

9th

I'LL HAVE A BIT

BEN THOMPSON

She battled away and may require further.
