The
World Champion 2YO of 1991, Arazi (USA) is still going strong at age 30 at Stockwell
Thoroughbreds in Victoria.
A superstar juvenile in Europe, Arazi achieved worldwide fame when winning the
Group I Breeders Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs with a dominant performance
posting the biggest winning margin in the history of the race at the time.
He retired to stud leaving 11 stakes-winners headed by multiple Grade I winner
Congaree, but failed to match his racetrack achievements in the breeding barn
and ultimately ended his stud life at the Independent Stallion Station in
Victoria covering his last small book of four mares in 2011.
Stockwell Thoroughbreds acknowledged the milestone 30th birthday of
their champion on Facebook - He is not slowing up anytime soon. He has enjoyed having the yearlings
next to him the last 8 weeks and has made sure they know he is still in charge.
Long live Arazi!
