Greg Polson previews Kembla Saturday August 19

Greg Polson - Saturday August 19

A lightly raced four-year-old from the Bjorn Baker yard and an improving colt with the Peter and Paul Snowden stable represent the best investment opportunities at Kembla on Saturday.

Greg Polson reckons the Bjorn Baker and Team Snowden yards can be successful at Kembla today.

The Baker-trained Smooth Tycoon is set to start punters off on a winning note in the Rachel King Class One Handicap (1000m).

Now a four-year-old, Smooth Tycoon has only been to the races on two occasions finishing a close second at Wyong on debut before going one better in a Beaumont maiden win on February 25.

Baker has given the son of Written Tycoon two trials in preparation for his return to racing winning his first trial at Rosehill defeating open company horses before finishing third in his latest trial at Randwick.

The 2kg claim for Jean Van Overmeire brings Smooth Tycoon in Saturday's assignment with a winnable weight and the trials suggest the gelding is ready to go fresh.

The step up to the mile gives the Snowden-trained Deladies Boy the chance to record a maiden win in the Chris Waller Maiden Handicap (1600m) at his third career outing.

After being well beaten at Kembla on debut, Deladies Boy improved considerably when runner-up over 1400m at Kembla on August 5 hitting the line in a manner that suggests he will get the chance to shine stepping up in distance.

There is still plenty of scope for improvement with Deladies Boy having just his third career start and if that's the case will take plenty of holding out at the end of 1600m on Saturday.
