The
Lindsay Park training team produced a promising winner for champion sire
Fastnet Rock on Wednesday at Sandown with good looking colt Rona's Rock casting
off maiden status in style.
Stepping out to 1600 metres for the first time at his third run back from a
spell, Ronan's Rock relished the longer trip, zooming to the line to win by a length
and three-quarters.
A raft of gear changes addressed his habit of hanging in his races with Damien
Oliver able to get the best of Ronan's Rock, who hit the line straight and
hard.
A $250,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Coolmore draft for Lindsay Park
Racing/ Spicer Thoroughbreds, Ronan's Rock is the second winner from
stakes-placed Ronan's Bay (USA), who comes from an international Black Type
family.
Ronan's Bay has a yearling filly by Pride of Dubai, a weanling filly by
Vancouver and was covered last spring by Fastnet Rock's superstar Group I
winning son Merchant Navy.
