Inglis Saturday Success

Media Release - Sunday February 17

Outstanding mare In Her Time secured her second Group 1 when winning the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Flemington.

In Her Time (Time Thief x Hell It's Hot) further proved herself one of the country's leading sprinters with the determined win, taking her career prizemoney past the $3m mark.

The Inglis Classic graduate also won The Galaxy at Rosehill last autumn at the top level.

She becomes the fourth Inglis graduate to win a Group 1 this year already, joining Beat The Clock (Centenary Sprint Cup in Hong Kong), Enzo's lad (Telegraph Hcp in New Zealand) and Atyaab (Cape Derby in South Africa).

In Her Time has now raced twice down the Flemington straight for a narrow second behind Santa Ana Lane in last year's VRC Classic, and today's win.

She will hence next race in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap down the straight in three weeks' time.

Owner Peter Brown described In Her Time – a graduate of the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale when offered by Kanangra – as "one mighty fine mare''.

"I am very lucky to have her and we are in a great position to now be able to look at all the big sprint races with her and see where we want to go,'' Brown said.

"None of this would have been possible if it wasn't for [breeders] John and Denise Cobcroft and Kanangra, who did all the early work with her.

The yearling half-sister to In Her Time is still for sale"I'd also like to thank [trainer] Kris Lees and [assistant trainer] Cameron Swan for everything they have done with her since taking over from [former trainer] Ben [Smith]. It's a great day.''

In Her Time was bred by the Estate of the late Denise Cobcroft.

In Her Time's Artie Schiller half sister (lot 85) was passed in at this week's Classic Yearling Sale, where she was offered by Kanangra.

To enquire about purchasing her, contact Inglis' Matt Scown on 0481 989 661.

In Her Time beat Osborne Bulls and Sunlight in the Lightning.

Sunlight's Sebring half brother is lot 274 at the Australian Easter Yearling Sale, on behalf of Widden Stud.

Inglis' next sale is the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, where 786 yearlings have been catalogued for auction at a renovated Oaklands Junction from March 3-6.

Meanwhile the 2015 Easter graduate ALASSIO (Foxwedge) scored a valuable first Stakes victory when successful in the Group 3 Triscay Stakes at Randwick.

The 5YO mare from the Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott stable has now won five of her nine career starts – and run two minor placings.

Eckstein is now a millionaire! She cost Waterhouse and Julian Blaxland $50,000 from the Emirates Park draft.

And Kurt Goldman capped off one of the biggest weeks of his training career when ECKSTEIN won today's Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes at Randwick.

Goldman was the recipient of a $50,000 Inglis Trainers' Credit at Warwick Farm on Wednesday when his 4YO Safe Landing won the Inglis Country Highway.

He spent that money the following day at the inaugural Highway Session of the Classic Yearling Sale, purchasing a Press Statement x Sin Sin Sin colt.

And today his mighty mare Eckstein proved she was on track to break her Group 1 drought this campaign with a strong first-up victory.

Eckstein is a $50,000 buy for KP Thoroughbreds from the 2014 Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale, where she was offered by Redbank North.
