Tassie Dundeel Star Wins G3 CS Hayes

Tara Madgwick - Saturday February 16
Racking up his fifth consecutive win at Flemington on Saturday in the Group III VRC CS Hayes Stakes was exciting Tasmanian trained three year-old The Inevitable, a son of progressive young sire Dundeel.

The Inevitable - Arrowfield TwitterPrepared by Scot Brunton, The Inevitable was a last start winner of the Listed Tasmanian Guineas over 1600 metres, but dropped back to 1400 metres for this tougher assignment.

Partnered by Sigrid Carr, who had won on him at his past four starts, The Inevitable enjoyed a sweet run in transit and showed a sharp turn of foot to run down Age of Chivalry and win by a nose.

"Words cannot describe how good this feels. He felt the winner from the 600," said Carr.

"He's so tiny but his ability got him there."

The Group I VRC Australian Guineas is now the goal for The Inevitable.

"He's a ripper," declared Scott Brunton.

"He's only very small. Dad bought him out of the Adelaide Magic Millions for $90,000, so he's a cheap horse now.

"The Australian Guineas is the plan as long as he's happy and pulls up well."

DundeelA $90,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for David Brunton from the Cornerstone Stud draft, The Inevitable has won five of six starts earning over $200,000 for his big group of happy owners.

Bred by Tori Park Stud, he is a half-brother to Group III winner Blahnik and stakes-winner Elysees being one of 11 winners from sensational producer Gift Bouquet, a stakes-winning daughter of Kings High. Born when she was 21, he is also her final foal as she died last year.

The Inevitable is one of five stakes-winners for Arrowfield Stud's Dundeel, who has made strong headway this season with his oldest progeny turning three with a Group I winner in South Africa in Atyaab and an unbeaten 2YO stakes-winner in Castelvecchio.
