The opening act of The Auction, a ground-breaking
partnership between ARQANA and show jumping organiser EEM (Christophe Ameeuw),
generated some highly promising results. A collection of elite embryos
representing the best genetics for show jumping were auctioned in Deauville,
with live broadcast and bidding in Hong Kong as well as online.
18 outstanding lots were offered and 16 of them sold, a clearance rate of 89%.
The sale's total aggregate reached €416,000for an average price of €26,000,
a record for this type of auctions.
Prices ranked from €12,000 to €41,000 and it was the first lot "in the ring", an embryo by Eldorado van de Zeshoek out of Coriana Van Klapscheut, herself a daughter of Darco who ranked 2nd in the Geneva Top 10 under Eric Lamaze in 2011, which commanded the sale-topping bid, placed over the phone by a Canadian purchaser.
9 lots were signed for in Hong Kong, where the sale was part of the Asia Horse
Week and the Hong Kong Longines Masters, 2 in Deauville and 5 on the internet.
Numerous bids were placed on the online platform www.theauction.online by bidders based in
Brazil, Australia, Great Britain, Belgium, America and France.
