Slipper Favourite Brilliant in Strong Rosehill Trials

Breednet - Monday February 11
Brazen Beau's Tassort gave no reason to doubt his Golden Slipper favouritism when scoring an impressive barrier trial win in an interesting set of heats at Rosehill on Monday morning.

TassortHeld up just behind the pace by James McDonald, Tassort could scarcely have been more impressive rolling to front in the straight and winning with plenty in reserve.

He is due to have his next start in the Silver Slipper Stakes at Rosehill in two weeks.

The runner-up was also an impressive effort from Heart Breaker, a colt by I Am Invincible out of Belle Couture which was an $850,000 pass in at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale last year.

He is the second foal of Belle Couture, a half-sister to Black Caviar, All Too Hard and Moshe.

The other two heats for colts and geldings on the morning were both won by sons of I Am Invincible in Born A Warrior and Covert Ops.

Born A Warrior is out of Encosta De Lago mare Soorena and was a $1.4 million yearling from last year's Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for Team Hawkes.

He is a half-brother to Newmarket Handicap winner The Quarterback and multiple Group winner Philippi.

Covert Ops was having his first trial since finishing second to Dubious in the Breeders Plate and was particularly impressive in an easy win.

Of the fillies heats, Snitzel produced a quinella in the first with Starla (ex Houston Benefactor) and Wayupinthesky (ex The Darling One).

The second heat was won by Bright Rubick, a homebred for Ramsay Pastoral out of Spinning World mare Torah.

And the third heat for fillies was won by Villami, by Foxwedge out of Galapagos Girl and was the highest priced yearling by her sire last year when sold for $425,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.
