Pinhook Winners at Karaka Book One

Tara Madgwick - Thursday January 31
Australian sires delivered the best results for pinhookers at the 2019 NZB National Yearling Sale Book One with Written Tycoon and Deep Field smashing it out of the park for Hallmark Stud.

The best pinhook result of the sale was the Written Tycoon colt from Redoute's Choice mare Into the Groove that made $475,000 to the bid of David Ellis. He was bought by Hallmark Stud for $170,000 at the Karaka May Sale in 2018, but was foaled in Australia for his breeder Daniel Myers, who bought Into the Groove from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2017 for $200,000.

Next on the list, also for Hallmark Stud was a Deep Field filly from La Comedienne that made $240,000 when secured by John Foote Bloodstock / Tony Gollan Racing. She was sourced from the 2018 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale from the KBL Thoroughbreds draft for just $46,000.

Darley's first season sire Kermadec delivered the next best success with a colt from Diamond Masque bought from the Koru Thoroughbreds draft for $200,000 by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He was sourced from Magic Millions National Weanling Sale where he made $40,000 when plucked from the draft of Rothwell Park. This handsome colt also gave Kermadec his best result at this sale.
