Valiant Stud Trio to Shine at Classic

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 30
Fergal Connolly's Valiant Stud enjoyed great success as a first time vendor at Magic Millions Book One this year selling 10 youngsters for $1.5 million and now head to the 2019 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale with three appealing types that are all BOBS eligible.

First into the ring will be Lot 393, a big strong bay filly from the first crop of Lonhro's Group I winning son Exosphere.

She is the fourth foal of Intendment, an unraced half-sister by Strategic to four-time Group I winner and $1.7 million earner Appearance and stakes-winner Mascareri. Appearance was sent to stud in the Northern Hemisphere by Darley and Mascareri has a yearling filly by Lonhro, a weanling filly by I Am Invincible and is back in foal to him again, so there is scope for more to happen in this family.

"She's a strong loose walking filly and the Lonhro x Zeditave nick has had stakes success with horses such as Beirut, Screen, Calaverite and Court Connection," said Fergal Connolly.

A brilliant winner of the Group I ATC Golden Rose, Exosphere is proving popular with yearling buyers, his stock selling for up to $230,000 at the Magic Millions.

Lot 757 is a neat racy filly by All Too Hard from winning Lonhro mare Talimena, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I winner and sire Denman.

All Too Hard is proving a great source of winners with 68 this season collecting over $3.3 million in prizemoney headed by his Group II winner Tarka and this filly comes from a real winning family.

Her grand-dam Ouachita has had seven to race for six winners including smart Epaulette three year-old Cossetot, who has won twice since the catalogue went to print, and her third dam is legendary producer Peach, the dam 12 foals to race for 11 winners headed by Group I winners Denman and Preserve.

"She's bred on the same All Too Hard x Lonhro cross as stakes-winner Curdled and is a really sharp style of filly that will turn a lot of heads," said Connolly.

Rounding out the trio is Lot 836, a chestnut colt by dual Group I winning miler Kermadec from Brightness, a winning sibling to Group II placed Supara and stakes-placed Zac Kasa and Win for Layla.

He's from the first crop of Kermadec, one of the best performers for Darley shuttler Teofilo (IRE), who has enjoyed widespread success in Australia as the sire of other top class Group I winners Happy Clapper, Humidor, Cross Counter, Palentino and Sonntag.

"The Kermadec yearlings were bought by some good judges at Magic Millions and with his sire no longer shuttling here he's an attractive option," said Connolly.

"Teofilo has had good success with daughters of sons of Danehill, that nick running at 7.2% stakes-winner to runners."
