With 200 metres left to run in Monday's $150,000 Listed Australia Day Cup (2400m) at Warwick Farm, five of the six starters were a shot at the winner's cheque but it was the in-form favourite Etymology who dug the deepest.

With Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle, Etymology defeated Naval Warfare (IRE) (Born To Sea) by a one and a quarter lengths with Fabrizio (High Chaparral) back in third.
