Boutique Hunter Valley nursery Kitchwin Hills have a happy knack for producing 'Magic' on the Gold Coast with past drafts producing Golden Slipper winner Phelan Ready and outstanding Pierro stallion Pierata, the winner of over $2.7 million.
A $160,000 purchase for his trainer Greg Hickman in 2016, Pierata was among the best three year-olds of his generation and has trained on in spectacular style this season and one can't help think the best is still to come.
A brilliant winner of the Group II ATC Missile Stakes and Group III ATC Sydney Stakes, Pierata was last seen finishing third in the Group I VRC Sprint Classic at Flemington and will be trained exclusively as a sprinter in the autumn to enhance his already impressive stallion credentials for the future.
Hoping to follow in his footsteps are the next generation of Kitchwin Hills sold up and comers in Dubious and Yes Yes Yes, both colts trained out of Victoria by Ciaron Maher / David Eustace and Darren Weir.
A $350,000 MM purchase last year for Aquis/ Ciaron Maher, Not a Single Doubt colt Dubious (image above Steve Hart) has not put a foot wrong with a debut win in the Group IIII ATC Breeders Plate followed by a cosy victory in the $75,000 Basil Nolan Jr Handicap at Eagle Farm before Christmas.
A $200,000 MM purchase for Darren Weir/ John Foote Bloodstock, Rubick colt Yes Yes Yes (image above Grant Courtney) had the honour of becoming the first winner for his sire when saluting at Flemington on December 15 and won again at Moonee Valley on Boxing Day booking his ticket to the Gold Coast.
