Very typical of the true Danehill type, Headwater caught the eye of some of the best judges in the business when he was knocked down as a yearling at Inglis Easter in 2014 for $500,000 to Hawkes Racing.
He won the Silver Slipper at his second start and was fifth in the Golden Slipper to Vancouver beaten less than two lengths.
Headwater comes from a prolific Black Type family steeped in speed, his dam River Dove a winner of the Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate sired by Blue Diamond winner Hurricane Sky from stakes-winning sprinter Ride the Rapids.
With double crosses of Northern Dancer and Bletchingly within his first four removes of pedigree, Headwater is a sire all about speed.
