Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Monday December 17
Dual Group I winning mare Alizee was the obvious star attraction at the Randwick barrier trials on Monday morning steaming to an easy victory, but there were also a couple of interesting two year-old winners including a colt by Pierro sporting the famed cerise colours of Ingham Racing.

Outstanding mare Alizee is on the comeback trailLast seen winning the Group I ATC Queen of the Turf Stakes back in April, the James Cummings trained Alizee missed the spring after she was found to have bled when preparing for her return and was immediately sent for a spell.

This morning was her second barrier trial and the daughter of Sepoy looked sensational when coasting to the line for Kerrin McEvoy to win her 1050 metre heat by the best part of a length and will be a force to be reckoned with when she heads back to the track on race day.

On the juvenile front, the Chris Waller trained Pierro colt Bacchus looked ready to go to the races after turning in a professional effort at his third trial and second this preparation.

He worked through to lead in his 1050 metre heat for Glyn Schofield and was strong to the line under gentle urging to hold a long neck margin over another nice Pierro colt in Rome with Brazen Beau filly Dolci charging home for third in what looked a competitive heat.

The winner is a homebred for Ingham Racing and is the second foal of Group III ATC Sweet Embrace stakes winner Jade Marauder, a three-quarter sister by Fastnet Rock to Group III winner Bliss Street.

Runner-up Rome is an interesting horse and looked good, albeit not asked to do much at his first outing since finishing fourth to Dubious in the Group III ATC Breeders Plate.

Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden, Rome was a $1,050,000 Magic Millions purchase for James Harron Bloodstock and is from Exceed and Excel mare Dance Card, a three-quarter sister to Group III winner Kaepernick.

Yitai Synergy as a yearlingThe other juvenile heat over 740 metres was won in dazzling fashion by Dissident filly Yitai Synergy, who has speed to burn. She led and won easily at her only previous trial at Wyong earlier this month and did the same thing here firing out of the gates to lead before holding a two length margin over blue-blooded Snitzel filly Shuwaamekh, a daughter of multiple Group I winner Shamekha.

A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Snowden Racing, Yitai Synergy she runs for China Horse Club and Yitai Racing.

A good looking chestnut reminiscent of her grand-sire Sebring, Yitai Synergy is the second foal of Longing, a Lonhro daughter of Group III winner Hinting.
