Today's Magic Millions Prospects To Watch

Craig Tompson - Saturday December 15
Today marks four weeks until the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, probably the last chance for a debutante to make a run, so here's the two-year-olds to watch around the country today.

Movie Role is one of the most interesting debutantes around Australia todayThe main race is the first event at Flemington where a win is going to be enough to ensure qualification at the Gold Coast and the three favourites are all Magic Millions eligible.

Darren Weir's Yes Yes Yes is favourite off a debut second at Moonee Valley, while the two second favourites are on debut.

They are Spirit In The Sky (Spirit Of Boom x Otimo), a $140,000 Gold Coast purchase for Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young, and Movie Role (Fastnet Rock x Aspen Falls), a $600,000 Gold Coast buy trained by the Hayes/Dabernig team.

The other interesting race is at Kembla Grange, which is going to need to see the winner race again if successful as the prizemoney won't be enough this week.

The three favourites in the first race are all Magic Millions eligible, high priced yearlings and from strong stables.

Enraged (More Than Ready x Sugar Babe), a $675,000 Gold Coast buy trained by Brad Widdup, Hightail (Written Tycoon x La Paris), a $520,000 buy in the Snowden stable and Mistress Mouse (I Am Invincible x Quack It), a $450,000 Gold Coast buy trained by the Waterhouse/Bott team.

Sun City was a $525,000 MM purchaseThe Listed Phelan Ready Plate at Doomben (Race 2) is also sure to have a significant bearing on the Magic Millions outlook with Tony McEvoy trained Sun City the short priced favourite.

Zoustar colt Sun City was second on debut in the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes (LR) at Flemington in the spring behind Unite And Conquer who franked that form with his Wyong Magic Millions win during the week and sees him sit atop the betting markets.

Sun City is currently second favourite for the Magic Millions so his performance today is probably the most interesting for 2yo Classic prospects.
