Astute Victorian agent Sheamus Mills swooped on well related stakes-placed mare Suspicieuse at the 2013 Arqana Breeding Stock Sale in December paying just 55,000 euros for the half-sister to Group III winner Sediciosa.
She raced on for another season in Australia before retiring to stud in 2015 and her first foal, a colt by Not a Single Doubt, fetched $350,000 at the Magic Millions when knocked down to Aquis Farms /Ciaron Maher Bloodstock P/L.
Named Dubious, he provided the fairytale start for her stud career when coming out to win the Group III ATC Breeders Plate on debut in September for the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable.
Diverse European bloodlines matched with Australian speed sires is an attractive breeding plan that has also delivered the best three year-old colt in Australia this season in The Autumn Sun (by Redoute's Choice from an Irish bred daughter of Galileo), so do you need a better reason to start thinking French and book a ticket to Deauville!
The catalogue features 1030 lots (fillies, mares and weanlings) offered over three days with entries by appealing sires such as Acclamation, Dark Angel, Dubawi, Frankel, Galileo, Invincible Spirit, Kendargent, Kitten's Joy, Lope de Vega, Monsun, Montjeu, Oasis Dream, Pivotal, Sea the Stars, Shamardal, Siyouni and Teofilo.
