Fresh
from siring his first Australian winner on Tuesday with an impressive victory for
Merovee at Newcastle, Frankel kicked in with a Group double at Deauville in
France overnight with a Group III win for Lady Frankel and a Group II victory
for the Sir Peter Vela owned colt Eminent.
The Group II Prix Guillaume d'Ornano Haras du Logis Saint-Germain over 1m2f was
won in commanding fashion by the Martyn Meade trained colt Eminent.
Already a stakes-winner having won the Group III Newmarket Craven Stakes
earlier this year, Eminent powered clear to win by three lengths taking his
overall record to three wins from six starts.
Eminent was well rated in front by Ryan Moore and appreciated a drop in class
having finished fifth in the Group I Coral Eclipse Stakes and fourth in the
Group I Epsom Derby at his two previous starts.
A 150,000 guinea purchase from the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for Dermot
Farrington on behalf of Sir Peter Vela's Pencarrow Stud, Eminent is the second
winner for Group I placed Kingmambo mare You'll Be Mine, a half-sister to Group
I winner Diamondsandrubies and daughter of Group I winner and Champion 2YO
Filly Quarter Moon.
Eminent is one of 12 stakes-winners from Frankel's first Northern Hemisphere
crop of foals, with 11 of those stakes-winners coning in Group races headed by
the dual Japanese Group I winner Soul Stirring.
Judging by the performance of Merovee at Newcastle on Tuesday, Frankel may not
