Galaxy Star Makes it 161 for Redoute's Choice

Mark Smith - Sunday November 4

While most 6yo daughters of Redoute's Choice have started their broodmare careers that's not the case for Bob Peters' late bloomer Galaxy Star who opened her stakes account in Saturday's Group III Asian Beau Stakes (1400m) at Ascot.

William Pike settled the Grant and Alana Williams-trained mare midfield before easing her out to mount a challenge.

Displaying a brilliant turn of foot, Galaxy Star cleared away to defeat her stablemate Action (Pierro) by two and a half lengths with War God (War Chant) a further one and a quarter lengths back in third.

Second in the Group III Northerly Stakes when making her seasonal debut on October 20, Galaxy Star advances her record to an impressive 9 wins and 3 seconds from 12 starts with earnings $375,800.

She is now guaranteed starts in the Railway Stakes (1600m) on November 24 and Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) on December 8.

"She's been favourite (for the Railway) for a while and I've had instances before where I've had the favourite and they didn't get a run, so we had to pull out all stops to make sure we got there," Peters told The West Australian.

Galaxy Star comes from one of the Peters most successful families.

Her dam, the very useful Galaxy Queen (Jeune) is a sister to the stakes-winning Star Encounter who placed in the Group 1 WA Derby and Group III WA Oaks.

Star Encounter is the dam of Group II Perth Cup winner and Group 1 Doomben Cup runner-up Star Exhibit (Statue Of Liberty) and Group II WA Guineas winner Perfect Jewel and Listed winner Royal Star who are both by Redoute's Choice.

Galaxy Star is the second and final foal of Galaxy Queen who died in January 2013.

Galaxy Star becomes the 161st stakes-winner for Arrowfield Stud's Redoute's Choice (pictured) who is currently working through his 19th book of mares.
