The brother to TOO DARN HOT and LAH TI DAR lit up the Tattersalls sales ring when knocked down to David Redvers for 3,5 million guineas on a day of sensational trade.
Twenty-seven yearlings sold for 500,000 guineas or more with seven topping the million-guinea mark and turnover topping 40 million guineas. The clearance rate for the day was also a remarkable 91%.
The Tattersalls sales ring swelled to bursting point in anticipation of the arrival of the DUBAWI colt out of Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber's wonderful broodmare DAR RE MI.
Already a brother to the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes winner SO MI DAR and the Listed-winning filly LAH TI DAR when the catalogued was published, the colt subsequently received substantial catalogue updates.
One was via LAH TI DAR who finished second in the Group 1 St Leger and the other was from his year older brother TOO DARN HOT who won the Group 2 Champagne Stakes and is the current anti-post favourite for next year's 2,000 Guineas.
Sheikh Abdullah Almalek Alsabah made much of the early running along with Jamie McCalmont before Japanese trainer Mitsu Nakauchida and Shadwell Estates' Angus Gold took up the running.
Finally David Redvers joined in to secure the colt for 3,500,000 guineas, the highest price for a yearling anywhere in the world this year and the second highest price for a yearling colt sold in Europe.
Following his purchase, David Redvers commented:
"This is the sort of horse that Sheikh Fahad and his brothers want to own - they want to participate at the highest level and have had a taste of it this year with Roaring Lion. He is out of an exceptional mare and by an exception stallion. It is very hard to put a value on a horse such as this – you can see lovely horses selling for good sums and they still are not the best.
"We are looking to make commercial stallions - let's hope that he goes out and lives up to all the potential that he has."
He was bred and sold by Lord and Lady Lloyd Webber's Watership Down Stud, and Lady Lloyd Webber was in the sale ring to witness the sale.
"We are very lucky to have Dar Re Mi who is breeding horses who are put together with such perfection. This horse is very similar to Too Darn Hot, a little more mature if anything.
"The farm's policy is to sell the colts and keep the fillies - we were unable to sell Too Darn Hot last year, thank god in the end - so we kept to the plan. It has been a nerve-wracking six months, but Terry [Doherty, stud manager] has produced him brilliantly, he looked amazing."

Brother to Oaks Winner Was Sells For 1.3 Million Guineas
As purchases go, there can have been few better than that of PARK EXPRESS who was purchased by the Burns Family's Lodge Park Stud in 1984. Subsequently Champion two and three-year-old filly in Ireland, the daughter of AHOONOORA went on to produce the Derby winner NEW APPROACH and the Champion European filly DAZZLING PARK. Another daughter, called ALLURING PARK, failed to reach those heights on the racecourse, but has more than made up for it in the sale ring. Amongst the seven winners the daughter of GALILEO has produced is the Oaks winner WAS as well as the Group-placed AL NAMAAH who was sold at this sale in 2013 for a European auction yearling record at 5,000,000 guineas. It was therefore no surprise that the own-brother to the Classic winner should be in such great demand with MV Magnier signing the docket at 1,300,000 guineas.
"I have to thank everyone at home," said Damien Burns of Lodge Park. "There is a lot of work involved and there are many don't come to the sales. This colt was prepped by my brother Jamie."
"The mare did not have a foal this year," reported Burns. "She is in-foal to Dark Angel, which is a slightly differing approach but if you strip the pedigree back Alluring Park is a daughter of Green Desert and is out of Park Express - a champion two-year-old and by Ahonoora."
Cheveley Park Stud buy Galileo Filly for 1.2m Guineas
The first of the lots to hit seven figures on the second day was the GALILEO filly out of the Group 3 DUKE OF MARMALADE mare WANNABE BETTER who was knocked down to Cheveley Park Stud's Chris Richardson for 1,200,000 guineas.
Consigned from Tom & Michael Gaffney's Churchtown House Stud, the filly attracted interest from throughout the ring, with agent Tom Goff prominent early along with Kerri Radcliffe, stood alongside American owner Sheila Rosenblum and Hubie de Burgh, stood alongside Australian John Camilleri, breeder of Winx. Trainer Simon Crisford also made his presence felt, but it was Richardson who finally secured the filly whose dam is a half-sister to the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner WANNABE GRAND.
"I have to be daring once in my life" smiled Patricia Thompson of Cheveley Park Stud after the purchase. "We just loved everything about her."
Chris Richardson, the stud's manager, added: "There are not many opportunities to buy Galileo fillies and he is such a phenomenal sire. This is such a strong pedigree, we are delighted to have bought her."
Dubawi Half-Brother to Legatissimo Sells for 1.2 million Guineas
The DUBAWI colt out of the MONTJEU mare YUMMY MUMMY continued the great sale for Newsells Park Stud when selling to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 1,200,000 Guineas. The colt is a half-brother to the triple Group 1 winner LEGATISSIMO, the DANEHILL DANCER filly whose successes included the 1,000 Guineas, the Nassau Stakes and the Matron Stakes.
YUMMY MUMMY was purchased at the 2009 Tattersalls December Mare Sale by John Warren Bloodstock on behalf of Newsells Park for 460,000 guineas. The sister to the multiple Group 1 winner FAME AND GLORY has been a great producer with her five foals of racing age all winning and realising a total of 3,805,000 guineas since 2011 at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
Sister to Leger Winner Kew Gardens Sells for 1.2 Million Guineas
The full-sister to the Group 1 St Leger winner KEW GARDENS was knocked down to Coolmore Stud's MV Magnier for 1,200,000 guineas. Consigned by David and Diane Nagle's Barronstown Stud, the filly is by GALILEO out of the Group 1 winning DESERT KING mare CHELSEA ROSE. KEW GARDENS finished seventh in the Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at the weekend and has an entry in the Group 2 Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup.
Horse France Strikes For Galileo Filly at 1 million guineas
GALILEO fillies continued to dominate at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale with Horse France's Robert Nataf securing the daughter of BROOKLYN'S STORM for 1,000,000 guineas. The STORM CAT mare is the dam of the Group 3 Prix de Royaumont winner POLLARA and the Listed winner STORMINA, herself the dam of the dual Group 1 winner and champion two-year-old, SILASOL. "She will be trained in France," said Nataf. "My client was wanting a racing and then a broodmare prospect - this is a huge pedigree and this filly has a lot of residual value." BROOKLYN'S STORM is a half-sister to Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner SOLEMIA, as well as Group winners PROSPECT WELLS and PROSPECT PARK with her pedigree also including the Group 1 Sussex Stakes winner THE GURKHA.
Pinhook Success for Longview Stud with 1,000,000 Guineas Sea The Stars Colt
The team from Longview Stud were celebrating following a stunning pinhook success with the sale of their SEA THE STARS colt out of CHICAGO DANCER who was purchased by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock for 1,000,000 guineas. The colt was purchased by Gerry Dilger's Dromoland Farm on behalf of his owners for 330,000 Euros as a foal. Diego Romeo, the manager of Longview Stud, said: "It was a pricey pinhook, but he is a gorgeous colt and we've loved him from the beginning. "Everything has gone to plan with him and he is very straightforward. Sea The Stars is a fantastic sire - we are very happy."
