gavelhouse.com Graduate Produces First Win for Newcomer

Media Release - Wednesday October 3

Newcomer trainer Ashely Frye justified her quiet confidence in Boyslightup with the $700 gavelhouse buy victorious in the Gore Town and Country Restaurant 1200m on Friday with a convincing length and a half win.

BoyslightupProviding the Riverton-based trainer with her first winner, fiancée Brett Murray steered the Duporth mare to victory to add further sparkle to the occasion.

Commenting on the early wedding present, Frye said "I was quite confident after the weather forecast predicting rain coming because she went a really nice race when she was only beaten by a nose at Oamaru on a heavy track."

Bought off gavelhouse.com in March, Frye has patiently handled Boyslightup with her first start in her new colours in early June. Since then, she has run in the money in all five starts, returning over $10,000 thus far for Frye who currently has three other horses in work plus one spelling.

"She has pulled up really well after the race and has eaten up everything, I can't fault her,"

"Going forward we will see how she stacks up at rating 65 grade," concluded Frye.

Entries close for the next gavelhouse.com New Zealand auction at 7pm on Monday 8 October. Contact the gavelhouse.com New Zealand team for advice on bidding or entering our next auction +64 9 296 4436 or email haylie@gavelhouse.com or Laura@gavelhouse.com .
