Exciting
young Coolmore sire Rubick produced his first stakes horse at Randwick on Saturday when
the Chris Waller trained colt Krameric ran home strongly for third in the Group III ATC Breeders Plate, the
first juvenile stakes race of the season in Australia for colts and geldings.
Allowed to find his feet back in the field by Hugh Bowman, Krameric hit the
line hard to grab third place in the big field of 14 finishing a length and a
half behind the winner and second placegetter Dubious and Covert Ops.
They covered the 1000 metres in a slick 56.45 seconds which was a new race
record highlighting the merit of Krameric's debut effort.
A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Mulcaster
Bloodstock, Krameric is the third foal of Queen for Ninedays, a winning
O'Reilly daughter of Group III winner De Montfort.
A brilliant Group II winning son of champion sire Encosta de Lago from the
family of champion sire Redoute's Choice, Rubick was super popular at the
yearling sales this year and has been installed favourite by CrownBet to be
leading first season sire by winners for 2018/2019.
Rubick is priced at $17,600 this spring and is fully booked.
