First Season Sires to the Fore at Cranbourne 2YO Trials

While Sydney held the annual official two year-old barrier trials, there were also four heats for the juveniles at Cranbourne with three won by first season sires in promising performances, so here are the results with breeding and sale details.

Gilded Crown did everything right, showing good speed and when challenged and headed in the straight continued to find the line strongly and prevail narrowly. A promising result for freshman sire Hallowed Crown. Entente was quite green in patches and is obviously talented.

Another win for a first season sire in Deep Field. Aerozoom was strong in the final stages in a good sign for his future. It was the slowest time of the four heats and there looked to be some horses with more to offer behind, namely third placed The Astrologist and fourth placed Reddison.

A professional win for expensive filly Bella Rosa which showed excellent gate speed, led and kept going impressively. California Honey was also good, chasing well and looking like there was a bit more to offer.

The best performance of the day by Mockery who showed brilliant early sped to set up a big lead quickly and run the fastest time of the four juvenile heats. Another winner for a first season sire too, this time Coolmore's Group One winning son of More Than Ready, Verrazano.
