Trent
Busuttin and Natalie Young are no strangers to having runners in the Victoria Derby
and a debut winner they produced at Echuca on Monday has a pedigree to suggest
that may be a viable option for him as the spring unfolds.
Three year-old Savabeel gelding Savvy Oak charged home from last to run away
and win the 1200 metre maiden by two lengths in an eye catching display.
A $95,000 NZB Premier purchase from the Windsor Park draft for First Light
Racing / Mr PA Willetts / Ciaron Maher Bloodstock / Mr P Moody, Savvy Oak is
the third winner from Group III winning High Chaparral (IRE) mare Fairy Oak,
who comes from the family of Group I winners Field Dancer and Just a Dancer.
For a horse bred to stay like this one is, a win at 1200 metres is an encouraging
sign so we will be watching Savvy Oak closely when he steps out next.
