Stud's young gun Zoustar is making a fast start to the new season and has a
promising staying prospect in three year-old filly Zourhea, a half-sister to
Group I ATC Australian Derby runner up Harper's Choice.
Third on debut at Kembla in July, the Gerald Ryan trained filly Zourhea was a
Breednet 'One to Watch' when breaking her maiden at Goulburn on August 3 and
stepped it up a notch when beating older rivals to win at Hawkesbury on
Thursday.
She raced up on the pace and was tenacious to the line to win the 1800 metre Class
1 contest by a short neck.
A $52,500 Inglis Classic purchase from the Vinery Stud draft for David Raphael,
Zourhea is a half-sister to talented stakes-winning stayer Harper's Choice and
is the fourth winner from Group I winning South American mare Oxigenada (ARg).
Zourhea is the first winner for Zoustar at distances of 1600 metres and further,
a distance range that many of his progeny will be looking towards as their
classic season unfolds and lucrative Guineas races are decided.
The Champion Australian First Season Sire of 2017/2018, Northern Meteor's best
son Zoustar is fully booked this spring at Widden Stud at a fee of $60,500.
