Hey Doc led most of the way to win Saturday's Group III Aurie's Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington.
Luke Currie got the topweight to the outside rail and Hey Doc ($5) held off Cannyescent ($3.60 fav) to score by a half-head ($5) with Grande Rosso ($12) a half-length away in third.
This is what the jockeys thought of the performance of their ride in Aurie's Star Handicap.

He was really good. He was fast away and I was happy to use that speed and get to the outside. We got it pretty soft for a while and then he built on his own under the 59kg. He'll improve off this today and there's more to come. |

He ran really well - I thought I had them inside the clock tower but to the winners credit he had topweight, worked into the wind all the way and held us off. |

GRANDE ROSSO |
Regan Bayliss |
Massive run first-up at six furlongs. Can't wait for him over seven furlongs this preparation, he'll be dynamite. |

She went really well but she didn't step that well. She hadn't had a trial so she was probably going to be vulnerable with the big weight but she battled well and looks set for a good campaign. |

He ran really well but possibly 1200m is a little bit sharp for him. He feels like he has come on. |

Slipped at the start and began awkwardly and just didn't feel right from then on. |

He over-raced a little bit and I would have liked to get some cover. He ran alright but they were maybe a class above him. |

He raced a touch fresh and over-raced throughout and then couldn't finish. |

I think he might have had enough for this preparation. |

He blew out late in the race but he probably was a little bit disappointing. The way the race panned out I never really got into it. |
